You are situated in the old town, also called the "heart" (Corazon) of Alicante. You can park your car next to the house and leave it there during all your stay. You probably do not need your car! Here you'll find the most emblematic historical buildings e.g. the town hall, the church of Santa María, the Cathedral of San Nicolas de Bari, an old convent, several art museums and many cosy restaurants and bars (we'll be happy to give you some recommendations). The house is situated at a walking distance to all sightseeing's, shops, facilities, restaurants, the harbour and the beach! From the house, you have access to: - the beach "playa Postiguet" and the harbour (puerto): 6 minutes' walk; from the harbour you can take a boat to the Tabarca island - the Church of Santa María situated in the same street at 50 meters: it is the oldest church in Alicante built in gothic style between the 14th and 16th centuries over the remains of a mosque - The medieval castle of Santa Barbara: it is the most famous sight here situated at 166 metres above sea level, on the top of the Hill called Benacantil. We recommend that you go through the magnificent Parque de la Ereta ( a wide green park recently created on the hill on top of the old town) - The Cathedral of San Nicholas de Bari, and the Town Hall: both are impressive examples of 17th century architecture. The nearby old town hosts the city’s best nightlife, but is also a great place to stroll by day, with its narrow streets lined with cafés; - some notable museums here, with the Museum of Contemporary Art (MACA) situated in the same street at 50 meters and the Archaeological Museum; - shops, supermarkets, bars, restaurants, market place ... The Old Town is, in many respects, the heart of Alicante. With its narrow medieval streets and old houses, really giving you a feel for the old city. There are a number of cafes, restaurants, wine bars, pubs and this is also one of the most popular places to visit at night. Alicante has a full calendar of fiestas throughout the year, providing some colourful and raucous night time entertainment in true Spanish style.
